3 DAYS SAHARA DESERT OF MERZOUGA TOUR FROM MARRAKECH

DAY 1: MARRAKECH / AIT BENHADDOU / DADES VALLEY

This morning, after enjoying breakfast, your journey will commence from Marrakech. You’ll traverse the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass, reaching altitudes of 7400 feet above sea level before descending to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou. This famous ksar has made appearances in several movies and TV shows, including Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and Game of Thrones. You’ll have the opportunity to explore this area, including climbing to the very top for a breathtaking view of the ksar and the surrounding landscape.

After your visit here, your drive will take you to nearby Ouarzazate, often referred to as the Hollywood of Morocco. Here, you can choose to do a backlot tour of the Atlas Film Studios or visit Kasbah Taourirt, one of the former palaces of the influential Glaoui Clan.

Continuing your journey, you’ll follow the Road of 1000 Kasbahs, passing through Skoura and the Valley of Roses (depending on the time of your trip, you may still witness some blooming roses). Finally, you’ll reach your accommodation for the night, nestled in the breathtaking Dades Valley.

DAY 2: DADES VALLEY / MERZOUGA

Following breakfast, you’ll set out for the immense sand dunes of the Sahara. But before reaching this desert destination, you’ll visit the awe-inspiring Todgha Gorge, where you’ll have the opportunity to walk through the most impressive section of this canyon. Afterward, a guided walk awaits you in the palmeraie and Mellah, the old Jewish neighborhood of Tinghir.

Next, you’ll drive to the outskirts of the vast dunes, where you’ll meet your camels. These camels will be your mode of transport into the heart of the dunes, where your desert camp awaits for the night. Upon your arrival at the camp, you can ascend the nearest dune to witness a mesmerizing sunset and the emergence of the starry night sky. Dinner will be served at the camp, followed by more entertainment, including nomadic music and percussions.

DAY 3: MERZOUGA / MARRAKECH

In the morning, it’s highly recommended to wake up early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the dunes. After this magical experience, you’ll once again mount your camels and ride back to the hotel. Here, you’ll have the chance to freshen up with a shower and enjoy some breakfast. Following your morning preparations, it’s time to hit the road and begin your journey back to Marrakech.
